Water, The Real Truth

Many of us don’t understand the important of having clean water to drink, wash in and to use for growing and preparing foods. Although we always hear about how we are going to run out of oil and energy, the fact that clean water will probably run out sooner.

Why is it that water is so important? The answer is simple, it is an essential part of our life and plays a role in almost every function our body does. Fact, most people don’t get enough water and a large amount of people are dehydrated, this is excluding those who live in third world countries.

One of the most major issue's is that people tend to think that things like tea, coffee, fizzy drinks and even alcohol are included into our daily fluid intake. All of these drinks will make you more dehydrated.

The human body is made up of 60% water and the brain is composed of 70% water.  Water is needed for the body to perform the functions. Some of the most important functions include, the transport of blood around the body, the transport of nutrients into cells, the transport of waste out of our cells and of course the functioning of the brain.

Apart from these things water is also needed for a lot of other things, for example to get healthy skin water is the key. The skin is bodies largest organ, dehydration will cause the skin to be dry, dull and may even result in blemishes and dark circles around the eyes. It is also needed to keep the kidneys and liver healthy. Pure water will make sure that these are all working effectively and ensure that any toxins are flushed out of the body.

Some people claim that they can't be dehydrated because when they feel thirsty they have a drink. However feeling thirsty is not an accurate indicator of this, most of us lose our thirst mechanism by the age of 17 so the body no longer tells us when we need to have a drink. We must ensure we drink at least two litres of pure water throughout the day even when we may feel like we don’t need a drink. If we do get the ‘thirsty’ feeling this is not particular a good sign as it more then likely means you are dehydrated and should have had a drink well before getting this feeling. It is often known for people to get other signs of being dehydrated before actually feeling ‘ thirsty’. The typical signs are, allergies, asthma, chronic pains and dry skin.

After reading all of the above I'm sure you will all have been running to you kitchen taps and filling up a nice big glass of water and getting it down you as quickly as possible, which brings us on to the next issue that millions of us are blind from.

Do you ever ask yourself what it is that your actually drinking?? What it coming out of that tap??  What is in our tap water?? Well water of course, most of us would say. However I think many of us would be unpleasantly surprised when we look at what is really in tap water and mineral water.

Although authorities claim to be proving us with 'clean' water, some would say that this is far from the truth with some drinking waters tested to have found over 2,000 toxic chemicals in them. Some of these which have been linked to cancers and nervous disorders, however this isn't really that surprising when there are over 100,000 found in the main supply of water and over 1,000 added every year. What is more surprising is that the majority of our population drink this contaminated tap water which is polluted by faeces and radiation along with all the toxins. Also the water that comes from our taps has been used several times before it reaches us!

Some of the main toxic chemicals that are found in our tap water include fluoride, chlorine, biofilm and monochloramine. Fuoride will to a certain level be found naturally in tap water but this amount is made much greater with reports suggesting that it protects against tooth decay, however the added manufactured fluoride is a toxic waste. Every time we put a form of fluoride into our body's this stays there so the level of fluoride just gets more and more. It is also commonly found it tooth paste, five minutes after using this the level of fluoride in our blood can be doubled. Other ways in which it is used is in drugs that you may be given from your doctor including antibiotics and birth control pills and it is also sprayed on to fruit such as apples and grapes. There is no real evidence that it actually works against tooth decay with some studies actually showing that those areas that are free from fluoride are also more free from tooth decay than those who do have fluoride.

There have been many health problems that have been related to intake of fluoride, some of these include, increasing the risk of heart related deaths, it can weaken your immune system, increase the risk of various cancers by 39% and it can even course you to have brittle bones even though authorize claim it will help build bones.

Tap water is something we do not want to be putting into our body's and with it being hard to control because we don't no where and how it is being used a lot of the time, we should try to avoid it in any way that we can. For example do not drink tap water!

Chlorine is used to disinfect tap water and it does do this job but it will also do a lot of other things too that most of us are unaware of. It is one of the most toxic chemicals around and may cause you to have dry skin and damage your hair. It has also been found that it plays a major part in atherosclerosis leading to heat attacks and strokes. shockingly in the USA it was found from a study that people who drink water which has chlorine in it are 93% more likely to get cancer. So although it does do its job of disinfecting that water it can also carry many long term health problems. again if possible we should try to stay clear of this if we can.

Biofilm is something that is found on the inside of our water pipes, it is a combination of viruses, algae and bacteria that is in the water. the bacteria form colonies and can produce new properties. Scientist are unsure on what this really does yet, where as some claim it to be a major issue to our health. some studies have also shown that it can kill the chlorine that is put into tap water that is used to disinfect it so we could therefore end up drinking water that hasn't been disinfected.

In a nut shell the end result has shown quite simply, for us not to drink tap water!! Although this is not deadly, it will without any question have long term effects on your health and may even produce further health issues that you may never have occurred otherwise.
